Story
I’m Bethel Vugutsa Kitangala, I was born in a family of four with my two brothers and one sister, when I was 5years old, i lost my dad, I never knew what happened or what was ailing him, I was very young and his death was so sudden, later on I came to learn that he found out he was Hiv positive which traumatized him and he had also been diagnosed with meningitis which led to his death, it really affected my family since it had spread to my mother and my elder sister. Four years later my mother left us, she went to remarry at that time we went to live with my grandmother, which was not easy, sometimes we could go to school barefoot, we could not afford school fees or even school uniform. Through Apostle Joshua ngao and Reverend Kennedy I was able to join fishers of men, I got a sponsor Matt and Ashley Wold and that was the end of my suffering and they really saved my life, thanks to apostle Joshua Ngao I joined fishers of men victory academy in Kimondo which was a turning point in my life, being in a good boarding primary school enabled me to work so hard, focus on my studies, I learnt a lot of things and this was also a chance to allow me to interact with other students, I got a sense of belonging at home I went to stay with Reverend Kenney and mum Janerose, they took me in as their daughter, I became a happy girl. I have been supported by the ministry throughout primary school and I have never lacked anything or felt any gap again in my life, I was happy and comfortable all I wanted to do is to make them proud for the love they gave me, unwavering support and care, it was a blessing. I did well in my primary school and i was able to join a good secondary school, everything was taken care of including my school fees, shopping and my upkeep, I was able to do my certificate of secondary education which was a success, throughout those four years i always wanted to work so hard to achieve my dreams and to make everyone proud. When I was in highshool my mother got very sick, she was diagnosed with stage three cancer and since she was Hiv positive she couldn’t survive for a long time she had to spend four years in and out of hospital, and when i was about to do my final exams in high school she passed on, it was a very sad moment for me, since i was preparing for my final examinations but I had to stay strong to achieve my goals, she was the only parent we had remained with but with the help of fishers of men I never felt alone they held my hands and supported me All through. I did my final exams in secondary school Through apostle Joshua Ngao, Reverend Kennedy and my sponsor I joined my dream university to pursue a degree in journalism and mass communication. My fees, accommodation, transportation and my upkeep was always taken care of and honestly, I have never felt like an orphan again in my life, I have been focused to achieve my dreams and be a successful woman, I completed my four years in the university I was among the top students with a second class upper division and my family, Apostle Joshua ngao, my sponsor Matt and Ashley Wold were very proud of me, the celebration was the best moment of my life, it was a great blessing to me. I was able to do my attachment in one of the local television station, fishers of men have been supporting me throughout my attachment, first internship in a radio station and currently am in my second internship in one of the media houses in Kenya Nation media group editorial department on print sector, I have been able to write several stories which have been published on newspapers and online, I really thank God for this journey, the endless love I have been receiving, the care and support is everything I could ever ask for, when I look at myself it is an evident of grace and a living testimony, I still have a passion to advance in my education as it will open massive job opportunities for me, I have always wanted to work so hard to make sure that no one would ever suffer due to loss of parents, I would really want to give back to the society and take care of other kids who have lost their parents since I was taken care of, having completed my degree I would love to do masters certificate in line with my bachelors in communication this will enable me to acquire more knowledge, skills and good job opportunity and I will be able to support other kids who are orphans, this is my humble request, given a chance to advance in my studies and I promise to bring out the best and give back to the society.
